Dancing with Dodos: A Cat’s Guide to Financial Catastrophes :3
In the shadow of a caravan, a moon cat named Yeon Fox is diligently counting gil, surrounded by Dodos that range from “cute” to “what did I just step in?” Yeon, a self-proclaimed entrepreneur, is always on the lookout for a way to make some quick cash. After all, the only thing slower than the shipping process to New Gridania is her ability to avoid the prying eyes of customs—especially when they’re eyeing her shipments of Gigantism Teacup Dodos.“Look,” she says, “these little fluff balls are practically flying off the shelves! I mean, have you seen how much all the Beckys are willing to pay for ‘adorable pets’ that can also perform a decent cha-cha?!”With a wardrobe that could rival a rainbow explosion and bright golden-hued eyes that could blind a mog, Yeon is quite the sight. Not to mention her tail, which seems to have a mind of its own, often swatting away her profits as if they were pesky flies. One fateful day, Yeon struck gold—or so she thought. “I was shipping dodos from Limsa to New Gridania. Those dodos were selling like hotcakes! Or, you know, like dodo cakes. They had more demand than conjurers had bad advice,” she reminisces. However, the road to riches was paved with potholes—literally. Old Gridania was a chaotic mess of conjurers who thought ‘healing’ meant fireballs and retainers who were less like assistants and more like really bad magicians. “I had to hire cattle drivers who were, let’s just say, more optimistic than skilled. Turns out, attempting to drive dodos through a conjurer-infested neighborhood is like trying to walk a cat on a leash: someone always gets hurt.”Enter the Dancing Cow. “Ah yes, my trusty sidekick." He looks to Yeon with a grin. "Always there to brighten my day and, unfortunately, her dodos’ diet. One day, the dodos decided they wanted to join the dance party. Yeon found herself dodging flying milk and dodo feathers. I thought I was doing a favor by feeding them my premium cow cream—little did I know it turned those teacup dodos into full-blown poultry titans!”By the time Yeon reached New Gridania, her “teacup” dodos were the size of chocobos. “Customs had a field day. They said my declared goods were invalid. I’m like, ‘What do you mean, Dodo is a valid currency in my heart?!’”After dumping most of her newfound monster pets into the wild (because who wouldn’t want to release apex predators into a neighborhood filled with conjurers?), Yeon was left with a hefty bill, a few bruised egos, and one very confused Dancing Cow with a Dodo following. But Yeon learned a valuable lesson: “Never trust a cow with a flair for dramatics and a questionable diet! And remember, if you’re ever in a tight spot, just blame the Dancing Cow. I know I do!”Now, she and her remaining dodo, affectionately named “Not-So-Tiny-Tina,” reduced down to Dodoson along with the Dancing Cow, continue their misadventures, running a not-so-legal dodo daycare that’s less about care and more about ensuring nobody’s mother shows up for a surprise visit. And so, the escapades of Yeon Fox, the moon cat with a penchant for profit and an uncanny ability to attract chaos, continue—one dodo at a time.
